Jim manages to convince both men, so they set sail with other crew members to discover the hidden treasure. Along the way, Jim overhears talks of one of the crew members wanting to start a mutiny and get all the treasure to himself.

On getting to the island, Jim flees from the crew, finds the treasure, and returns home, vowing never to go on such a voyage again. This story is perfect for couples who love adventure and the thrill of exploration. It teaches about trust and how couples can learn to trust and stay loyal to each other at all times.

“Around the World in Eighty Days” by Jules Verne

The book tells the story of Phileas Fogg, a wealthy, upstanding Englishman, who makes a daring bet that he can travel around the world in just 80 days after hearing the news of a robbery done in the bank of England by a thief dressed as a gentleman.

His friends said that the thief must have been long gone since the world is so large, meanwhile, Fogg argued that the world is not so large anymore judging from the more advanced means of transportation available.

This argument led to him placing a 20,000-pound bet of his entire life savings that he could travel the world in 80 days, and if he comes back on the 80th day by 8:45 pm, he wins the bet, but if he does, he loses the bet.

Fogg sets out to the world accompanied by his loyal servant Passepartout, and despite the countless obstacles he faced, he was able to arrive before the 80th day to claim back his wager.

This story is perfect for couples who dream of traveling together and experiencing the challenges and excitement of seeing new places, cultures, and people.

“Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail” by Cheryl Strayed

The book is a memoir of true-life events written about the writer, Cheryl Strayed, who takes a 1000-mile hike on the Pacific Crest Trail between California and Oregon alone after she lost her mother and got divorced.

She went on the hike without any pre-training, and it lasted three whole months. However, on this hike, she was able to heal, discover herself, and become much more empowered.

As couples, it’s best to read this book to draw inspiration from her resilience, honesty, and strength. This way, you learn to support each other in times of trouble.

“A Walk in the Woods” by Bill Bryson

So Bill Bryson decides to send invites to friends and family to join him on the trip, but no one shows up except his friend, Stephen Katz, who is out of shape and concerned for Bill.

Nonetheless, Bill and Stephen go on the hike, and it is a journey full of laughter, challenges, and connection with nature. This book is perfect for couples who desire to go on their own adventure. It teaches you perseverance, friendship, and how to appreciate nature’s beauty.

“The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon” by David Grann

Based on true-life events, the writer David Grann tells the story of renowned British explorer Percy Fawcett, who sets out on a voyage alongside his don Jack and other crew members to search for a lost city in the Amazon.

The search eventually led to his mysterious disappearance and the deaths of other crew members. According to the writer, in the course of researching for the book, he had to travel to the Amazon, and oral history told by the local tribe is that Percy was warned severely not to venture into the Amazons by the locals.

And after 5 days of moving in with his crew, the crew members were found dead, and Percy was nowhere to be found. The book would be an interesting read for couples as it uncovers history and ancient secrets. Couples would also learn about the consequences of obsession and taking risks.

“The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho

This book tells the story of Santiago, an adventurous Andulusian shepherd boy who repeatedly dreams of discovering a hidden treasure whenever he sleeps under a sycamore tree that grew out of a ruined church.

Santiago becomes bothered by the repeated dreams and desires to see the counsel of a Gypsy woman; she tells him that the treasure he seeks is buried in the pyramids of Egypt. Then he met an old man named Melchizedek, the king of Salem, who convinced him to sell his flock and make the journey to Egypt.

So Santiago takes the boat ride from Tangier, Spain, to Egypt in search of the hidden treasure and is faced with some challenges when he arrives. Eventually, a year later, Santiago continues on his search with a caravan and meets an Englishman who tells him about Alchemy and his purpose of finding the Alchemist.

Santiago became thrilled and, over the course of events, found the alchemist who taught him how to command the wind to save their lives and, in turn, showed him how to turn lead into gold. Santiago went on to the Egyptian Pyramid, and while digging the desert sand for treasure, two men accosted and beat him up.

Santiago went on to share his dream with them, and one of the men told him dreams are useless because for some time now he has been dreaming of hidden treasure buried under a sycamore tree in a ruined church. Santiago remembers the tree and hurries back only to find a chest full of treasures hidden under the sycamore tree.

The story is an enchanting one and teaches couples how to follow their own dreams in order to find their true path. It is insightful, inspirational, full of wisdom, and teaches couples how to maintain a deeper connection with each other.

Tips for Choosing Adventure Book for Couples

Assess Your Interests: Before choosing an adventure book to read with your spouse, it is best to consider what interests you both and the types of adventures you both enjoy.

If you are drawn to survival, historical, personal transformation, or travel stories, simply go for it and ensure it sparks your curiosity and aligns with your shared interest.

Compensate Each Other’s Reading Preferences: It is true, everybody will not like the same thing, which also applies to books too. Your spouse may love nonfiction novels while you prefer fiction stories. Whatever it is, learn to balance and alternate between the adventure books you both read so no one gets left out and you strengthen the bond between yourself.

Try something new: Try something new; do not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. The same old type of fiction books can dull the spark between you and your spouse, so once in a while, choose a book that is different from what you both are used to to grasp new ideas and perspectives that could spice up your marriage.
