Your recording is encoded into an MP3 inside your browser and saved straight to your device; it is never uploaded, so there is no server copy and no deletion deadline.

Why we built it
The voice is there. Only nobody has written it down.
Most people record a voice memo because someone said something they do not want to lose — a grandmother telling a story, a father explaining how it really was back then. Questions about the online audio recorder
Do I have to install anything?
No. The recorder is part of this page and runs in the browser you are reading this in. There is no app, no plugin and no account.
Where is my recording saved?
Only where you save it. The audio is turned into an MP3 on your device and handed to your normal download folder. It is never uploaded to Meminto or anyone else.
How long can a recording be?
Up to 25 minutes per recording, which is about 24 MB as an MP3. For longer material, record it in several parts — that is usually easier to work with anyway.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, on current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on both phones and computers. On iPhone, keep the tab in the foreground while recording — iOS pauses the microphone when you switch apps.
Can I use the MP3 for my Meminto book?
Yes, and that is what it was built for. Record an answer here, then upload the file to your book in the Meminto app — useful when a co-author would rather send you a recording than type.
Why is the recording in mono?
Because it is speech. A single channel keeps the voice exactly as clear and makes the file half the size, which matters when you send it by email or upload it over mobile data.
